New Year off to great start

2012 is well and truly underway, and the centre is making great progress. Our refurbishment is going well, and our movie nights have so far been a great success. Our hope is that, in 2012, we will be able to recommence normal operation, but we cannot do so with your support. So why not become a member or volunteer? We are always looking for people to help out.

On Jan 21, we will be celebrating Australia Day with a screening of Kenny, a great Aussie mockumentary film staring Shane Jacobson. Doors open at 6.30pm, movie commences at 7.15pm.

There will also be a members information night on the 24th at 6.30pm where members can receive updates on the centre's progress.

Summer movie nights

Our summer movie nights will take place every fortnight from December to March. There will be a variety of quality films with games for the children. Our kitchen volunteers will be serving up food and drinks, and the gift shop will be open each night.

A family pass is just $40.00, and all profits go toward keeping the centre open.

Centre at risk of closure

As you may or may not be aware, the centre is facing tough financial times. Funds are drying up fast, and now the centre is facing possible closure. We are currently in discussion with the council about the future of the centre, but we still need your support to continue running. Please read the following press release about an upcoming public meeting. We need your support to stay open!

Press release:
Rockingham Regional Environment Centre at risk of closure 31/12/2011

It's crunch time for Naragebup, Rockingham Regional Environment Centre.

RREC are holding a public meeting on Tuesday the 30th August at 6.30 at Naragebup 49 Safety Bay Road, Rockingham.

The level of public support at this meeting will help to determine whether we stay open to continue providing a service to the community or close our doors.

We have had really positive discussions with companies about possible partnerships. These will help in the long term by providing ongoing support for the Centre . In one way the situation is the best we have been in for a long time, it is just that the funds we have are running out too fast.

We have called a Public Meeting and the support we get (bums on seats and practical offers to help make events happen) will contribute to our decision about whether it is possible to continue or if we have to close the doors.

We expect VIPs and City of Rockingham councillors to attend, all we need are lots of people who say 'WE WANT OUR ENVIRONMENT CENTRE TO CONTINUE' and who are willing to help make that a reality.

If you can attend we would love to see you. If you can't, we would welcome emails of support to be read out on the night.

We are a vibrant organisation and  have lots of interesting projects in the pipeline, we just need to hang in there and for that we need the Community’s support.

Please attend and support Rockingham’s only Environment Centre.
