Summer movie nights

Our summer movie nights will take place every fortnight from December to March. There will be a variety of quality films with games for the children. Our kitchen volunteers will be serving up food and drinks, and the gift shop will be open each night.

A family pass is just $40.00, and all profits go toward keeping the centre open.

Centre at risk of closure

As you may or may not be aware, the centre is facing tough financial times. Funds are drying up fast, and now the centre is facing possible closure. We are currently in discussion with the council about the future of the centre, but we still need your support to continue running. Please read the following press release about an upcoming public meeting. We need your support to stay open!

Press release:
Rockingham Regional Environment Centre at risk of closure 31/12/2011

It's crunch time for Naragebup, Rockingham Regional Environment Centre.

RREC are holding a public meeting on Tuesday the 30th August at 6.30 at Naragebup 49 Safety Bay Road, Rockingham.

The level of public support at this meeting will help to determine whether we stay open to continue providing a service to the community or close our doors.

We have had really positive discussions with companies about possible partnerships. These will help in the long term by providing ongoing support for the Centre . In one way the situation is the best we have been in for a long time, it is just that the funds we have are running out too fast.

We have called a Public Meeting and the support we get (bums on seats and practical offers to help make events happen) will contribute to our decision about whether it is possible to continue or if we have to close the doors.

We expect VIPs and City of Rockingham councillors to attend, all we need are lots of people who say 'WE WANT OUR ENVIRONMENT CENTRE TO CONTINUE' and who are willing to help make that a reality.

If you can attend we would love to see you. If you can't, we would welcome emails of support to be read out on the night.

We are a vibrant organisation and  have lots of interesting projects in the pipeline, we just need to hang in there and for that we need the Community’s support.

Please attend and support Rockingham’s only Environment Centre.

Host family required.

Naragebup is expecting to have an overseas student volunteering with us for five months. While they are here, they will require a host family in the local area. If you can help, please call the centre ASAP.

Please note that due to a miscommunication, the previous post about our turtles was unintentionally misleading. The turtles have not left the centre yet. We would like to apologise for any inconvenience.

Turtles Head for Home

Naragebup's famous turtles have headed home. They have been returned to  their own climate up north after recovering from injuries and illness. They will be missed.

If you find a turtle on the beach, please wrap it in a wet towel and bring it to the centre.

Reptiles winding down for winter

The reptiles at Naragebup are getting ready for winter. As a result, it will be harder, if not impossible, to see them over the next few months. Some of the reptiles will go into hibernation. For this reason, we would like visitors to the centre to keep noise to a minimum while visiting the reptile realm. We also ask you to ensure you supervise your children and refrain from tapping on the glass, as this could potentially kill the reptiles.
Thank you for you're co-operation.

Animal Care workshop.

Naragebup will be hosting an animal care workshop on May 29th. This workshop is family friendly, and members have exclusive access to advanced bookings until May 9th. There are only 40 places, so call the centre today to secure your place.
The workshop will talk pets and reptiles, with all participants getting up close and personal with Naragebup's reptiles, chickens and turtles.

In other news, some of our turtles are finally heading home after recovering from injuries and illness at the centre. They will be missed by all.
